NICOLAS CAGE SELLING BEL-AIR MANSION FOR $29,999,000
Actor Nicolas Cage is selling his Tudor-style mansion in Bel-Air for an asking price of $29,999,000.
Cage, 44, whose latest film, Bangkok Dangerous, opened on Friday, first tried to sell it two years ago for $35 million but took it off the market last year.
The 11,817 square foot mansion was built on an acre of land in 1940 for U$110,000, which was worth just £27,500 in those days. It has nine bedrooms and bathrooms, an Olympic size pool, a wine cellar and a 35-seat cinema.
The property, which also has a square tower, was once owned by crooner Dean Martin, who added a 2,500 square foot entertainment complex in 1974.
PRODUCTION OF 24 TO TAKE A BREAK
The production of cult hit series 24 is being closed down for more than two weeks – because the producers do not like the direction it was taking.
Work will halt for 18 days after the completion of hour 18 on September 15, giving the writers a break to come up with a better storyline.
Executive producer Howard Gordon told Entertainment Weekly: “We had a couple of scripts that we weren’t happy with.
“We just couldn’t get this direction to work, and we found another one that we liked better, so we wound up retooling it.”
ROBERT DE NIRO QUITS MEL GIBSON FILM
Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro has abruptly left the cast of Edge of Darkness, a day before he was due to shoot his first scenes with Mel Gibson.
De Niro, 65, arrived on the Boston set only last week to play a shady government operative trying to clean up evidence in the murder of a young woman activist.
“Sometimes things don’t work out,” a spokesman for De Niro said. “It’s called creative differences.”
In the film, based on a 1985 BBC series of the same name, Gibson, 42, plays a murder detective who is the father of the murdered girl, and who uncovers her secret life and the attempted government cover-up.
