SINGER AND ACTOR JERRY REED DIES
Prolific country singer and songwriter Jerry Reed, who appeared in three Smokey and the Bandit films with Burt Reynolds, has died, aged 71.
Reed, whose hits include East Bound and Down, When You’re Hot, You’re Hot, Amos Moses and She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft), died of complications from emphysema at his home near Nashville.
“He was still recording right up until he couldn’t any more,” said his agent, Carrie Moore-Reed. “He had been ill for some time.”
TIGER WOODS TO BE A DAD AGAIN
Golf champion Tiger Woods is set to become a father for the second time.
Woods, 32, announced the good news – especially welcome because he has been plagued by a knee injury which has kept him off the course since his victory in the US Open – on his web site.
He and his wife of nearly four years, Swedish model Elin Nordegren, welcomed daughter Sam Alexis a day after last year’s US Open.
“Elin and I are proud to announced that we are expecting our second child in late winter,” he wrote.
